My name is Aster Voorhuis, the maker behind Picum.

My connection with clay began in early childhood. The fascination for shaping a simple natural material into something beautiful and meaningful stayed with me throughout the years and eventually led me back to ceramics in adult life.

I further developed my skills through ceramic studies at the Academy of Arendonk in Belgium, where I deepened my knowledge of techniques, materials and the endless possibilities of clay.

In my studio, clay, craftsmanship and nature come together. I create unique stoneware pieces that are both functional and artistic—objects designed to be held, used and cherished in everyday life.

Much of my inspiration comes from the forest around Lieshout: the textures of tree bark, the colours of moss, the changing seasons and the small creatures that inhabit this quiet world. Like nature itself, no two of my pieces are exactly the same. Each bowl, vase or object carries its own character, with subtle variations and imperfections that are the signature of a handmade process.

Every piece is carefully shaped by hand, glazed with attention and fired at 1250°C, transforming clay into a durable object that can be enjoyed for many years.

Through Picum, I hope to bring a small piece of nature, calm and craftsmanship into your home
